Sorry if you have already seen this.

I tried all the above, but it didn't make a difference. The error stays
the same.

I'm using a 43 MB Seagate ST157A (560, 5, 26) as C: drive and a
85 MB ST1102 (1024, 10, 17) as D: drive.
Both are IDE drives. ( I only use the C: drive for DOS/VSTa)
Both are recognized with the correct size.
I hope this helps to get me going on.
