The problem sounds like one of the boot files listed in boot.lst (or maybe
the kernel file "vsta") isn't quite right. If it's the error I believe it
is then one of the files is probably too short as "seg.c" is reporting that
it expected more data. Another alternative could be that one of the files
has a data corruption in its a.out header.

With a standard 1.3.3 system I reckon the file sizes should be:

vsta - 106496
namer - 45056
cons - 49152
wd - 49152
dos - 57344
swap - 40960
init - 40960
