VSTa hangs

Sadly, VSTa will hang on me quite easily:

Using a vanilla install. Log in as vandys/test

$ echo -n "/vsta/bin:." > /env/PATH
$ echo -n "vt100" > /env/TERM
$ cd /
$ echo 'main(){printf("hello world\n");}' > hw.c
$ gcc -c hw.c
(ok!)
$ gcc hw.o
(and it hangs)

The kernel debugger says ld sleeps, or more precise:

puhh. I hope this means something to someone. ;^)
