GNU Smalltalk (I know Steve Byrne, BTW, I was one of his earliest Beta
sites, and I appreciate what he did) is not even in the same league. Squeak
has continuity back to the earliest days of Smalltalk, is a system which is
built on top of itself, and has the original Smalltalk architects still
working on it. It is also a full system, with world class browsing,
debugger, GUI, etcetera.

Fire each of them up and I think the fundamental difference will jump
right out at you. :->
