Ethernet driver status and network manager question

I have a basically working NE2000 driver for VSTa and I'm starting to map
out the network manager to run on top of it. I want to get a upper-level
design somewhat done before releasing the Ethernet driver so that I can
stablize the interface.

I noticed a number of references to uid mapping and such when dealing with
a network connection. Obviously, these issues will have to be addressed
once the network manager and name mapper are done. However, I would like
to solicit comments on the network manager architecture and interface.
Any suggestions or comments will be greatly appreciated.
