I had heard rumors to this effect, sorry to hear them confirmed. :-(
We've never had problems building reliable kernels on any release of
GCC that I've ever tried--as you've probably seen by now, I try to
keep things simple.

I only heard little rumblings. DJGPP used to be an asset, but between
the rockiness of GCC (especially built-in functions, which ones are
built-in, and their definition) and now DJGPP rambling all over the
place, perhaps the next release should focus on an entirely native
build process. The biggest hole which comes to mind is the lack of an
RCS port for VSTa. RCS (last I looked) uses some horrendous shell
script to do its configuration. I'll have to see what would be
involved in getting this to work under VSTa.
