Ahhh... I hadn't thought of that. I see how that could result in apparent
slower performance.

Well this is a moot point since I extracted the file on the same FAT
partition in both Linux and VSTa to eliminate that possibility.

I see. I'm just saying it exits prematurely because it's giving me an error
message. I'm performing the extraction with the command:
'tar zxvpf vsta_src.tz'
so no explicit piping involved, just implicit.
