There have been a number of projects that have run a Mach kernel under BSD
or Linux. NeXT used a Mach 2.5 kernel, which was not a true microkernel,
under BSD. XINU (UNIX spelt backwards) was a commercial project in
Berkeley which used BSD on either the Mach 2.5 or the Mach 3.0 kernel. The
latter was considered experimental. LITES runs BSD on the Mach 3.0 kernel.
MKLINUX is a development by Apple running Linux on the Mach microkernel.
