I loaded VSTa 1.6.1 to a desktop without a hitch. I then reformatted the
laptop that I was having problems with and reinstalled 1.6.1 and now
everything works, well except that /tmp shows up twice in ls and I can't
cd to /tmp.

I'm chalking this up to flaky hardware.
